The minute we drove through the electric gates into La Malvasia we felt instantly at home. Our host welcomed us and explained a little about the property, an old storehouse, being in the same family for years. This little gem consists of three very well appointed villas that will make you wish you booked it a bit longer. It is a special spot. Every effort has been made with the stunning garden and inside they have thought of everything you might need.
Located in the south of Tenerife and facing the ocean and the nice little village of Arico Viejo, the setting is beautiful. The property is very well maintained and as it is in the middle of a vineyard with no surrounding buildings. It is extremely quiet but still yet near enough to famous Tenerife costal facilities and cities. The cottage is part of a 35 hectares’ plot, of which eight are in use for the mentioned vineyard.
Our villa has an open plan living room and is immaculate and tastefully decorated. Child friendly sofas and chairs ensure for some relaxing evenings around the fire place in the chillier months. Otherwise you will probably spend most of your time on the big terrace that spans the entire length of the building or in your own private garden facing the mountains.
Amateur chefs will find a well equipped kitchen with everything one could need there and as we have two bedrooms our daughters are very pleased that they have their own space as we do. All bedrooms are large and have en-suites. Another third bedroom in our villa is on a little annex in the back of the villa, which is great for families with older children as they have their own entrance to the bedroom and private garden.
Some steps down the mature garden with huge cactus plants are the pool and the pool house. Although the pool is heated, our kids thought the water was a bit cold since we stayed in February. But whatever season, it is a wonderful place to linger for an afternoon with a book or to play a board game. Back on the terrace there is a BBQ and a big table with chairs to cater for all your al fresco dining.
La Malvasia is close to a little village Arico, an authentic little village where you can buy all you need. After some exploring we even found a playground with views of La Malvasia on walking distance. The location is also a short drive from a lovely, small beach, our kids loved playing in the dark sand as we enjoyed some great cappuccinos in a little beach bar. You can also walk into the village which has some fabulous restaurant. And it’s less than 30 minutes from the airport.
WOW
# The owners from La Malvasia live away from the cottages but are readily on hand for help and advice both before as during our stay. It’s the right mix when we needed them but they left us independent.
# The charming villas are spacious, great for hide and seek.
# Our daughters loved the garden, excellent for them to arrange a search trip. And the pool and pool area are lovely to relax after a day around.
