Pomegranate Hotel, Greece

Okay, you do expect a lot when a hotel promises to deliver 5-star experience; so we are curious to find out when we enter our next destination in Greece: the beachfront Pomegranate Hotel. We were already spoiled while staying at the close by sister hotel Potidea, but as soon as we step foot, guest service approaches and ensures everything is fine. The reception area is impeccably clean, well-kept and the staff goes the extra-mile to ensure we would make the best out of the time we spent in the hotel.

It’s not only the hotel that is promising: the Pomegranate Hotel is prominently positioned on the west coast of Halkidiki and encircled by the mythical Mt. Olympus and the spiritual Mt. Athos. Haldiki is regarded as the best holiday destination in Northern Greece. With its distinctive “trident shape”, it is extended by its 3 near-island shape “legs” (Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos) into the azure of the Aegean Sea. And above all of this: Mount Athos is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

We find out not only guest service is very friendly; all staff are truly helpful. They work hard to keep this place as a 5-stars. The buildings are quite modern and could have a bit more ambiance, but rooms are spacious and comfortable, and you will likely get a good ocean view. Unless you are on the ground floor (garden view) which is still nice since the grounds are so well maintained. When exploring the area, we enjoy all the beautiful flowers and stunning hanging gardens which all adds to the already exclusive feel of the place..

As a guest we have direct access to the beach, as well as the two swimming pools. The pools are in lagoon style, some with bubbles, and offer some amazing sea views. Just as on the sandy beach filled with natural umbrellas. The beach is long and it's slightly steep so be careful with young children.

The food is wonderful, both in the buffet and the sea-food restaurant and the room service works perfectly. The main restaurant is huge and there’s a lot of variety in the buffet. Sweet lovers will be happy with so many choices of desserts. We prefer the other restaurants for the intimate atmosphere.

Combining relaxation for parents and fun for children often may sometimes seem contradicting, but this is not the case here. Sooner or later you will find the experienced animation team that prepares a thorough schedule of activities for both adults and / or children. Our girls are really impressed by the kids area - a small Greek temple with wonderful entertainers speaking very good English and Russian. The kids club in the temple offers day care programs for children 4-12 years and they also offer babysitting services.

Programs for all guests are offered every week, including fitness, sports and entertainment and yes, we did see quite a few families doing their stretch and yoga sessions on the jetty. But don’t be afraid to overstretch since there’s always a doctor available on call. If you don’t need anyone to activate you, you might try one of the tennis courts or rent a trendy bicycle. But you can also opt for some scuba diving lessons. With the kids at the kids club, we take our chance to visit the spa. Its complimentary included with our reservation and truly a thing to see and experience. Don’t miss the foot path to stimulate your feet!

It would be a waist not to seek entertainment outside the hotel. Haldiki has the breadth of spectacular beaches and boasts 550 km of coastline. All of them are blessed with crystal clear waters reflecting the deep green of the pine-tree forests. There are verdant mountains, architectural heritage, cultural museums, traditional villages and fragrant vineyards, just as alternative tourism proposals, including sea sports, mountain biking, spa facilities, hiking, agro tourism, religious tourism and sports opportunities.

# All of us would recommend this hotel to anyone who thinks about having a relaxing holiday in Greece, in a wonderful resort, with secluded beach and crystal water.

# The kids club’s setting within a temple is just amazing. And the hotel boasts beautiful live shows at night especially the one with the colourful fountains at 8.30 pm. Your children will love it.
