It is perhaps one of the most special things I have done in all our travels. At sunrise I get up and cycle across the island. Slowly it awakens. Walking with beers and cans of Coke to our own secluded beach; we stay in a beautiful rental villa on Praslin in the Seychelles. Now we know why the name of our villa is so appropriate: the sunset is magnificent on this side of the island. Praslin was once known as a hideout for pirates. When you visit, you will quickly see why they liked to hide here. When British officer Charles George Gordon visited the Vallée de Mai nature reserve on Praslin, he was convinced that this had once been the site of the Garden of Eden, the residence of Adam and Eve. We have the same feeling arriving for our visit to Raffles Seychelles. Surrounded by pristine beaches, framed by forests and clear ocean waters, it is no wonder we get visions of paradise.
